1. Overview
The Trailblade 3 is the third generation of our best-selling all-terrain trail runner. Reworked midsole, grippier outsole compound, and a redesigned heel cradle that finally addresses the slippage feedback we got on v2. Built for technical trails, gravel, and the occasional unexpected creek crossing.
Price: $148 ($118 for Insider Pro+ members during launch week) Availability: Men’s 7–14, Women’s 5–12, half sizes through 11.5 Best for: Trail running, fast hiking, mixed-surface ultras
2. What’s new in v3
- Midsole foam: Switched from EVA to a compression-molded supercritical foam. ~12% lighter, retains rebound 3x longer over the life of the shoe.
- Heel cradle: New asymmetric counter that holds the heel without pressure points. Solves the v2 slippage on technical descents.
- Outsole compound: Continental rubber, 4mm lugs in a redesigned chevron pattern. Tested in mud, wet rock, and dry desert.
- Drop: 6mm (down from 8mm in v2), reflecting customer feedback and current trail-running drop trends.
- Weight: 9.8 oz (men’s 9), 8.4 oz (women’s 8)

4. Sizing & fit notes
The Trailblade 3 fits true to size for most runners but the toe box is slightly roomier than v2 — if you sized up half a size in v2 because of toe pressure, consider going back to your standard size in v3.
Wide-foot runners: we now offer a 2E width in men’s 8–13. Narrow-foot runners: pull the lacing snug through the midfoot wrap; the asymmetric heel cradle handles the rest.
5. Customer-tested durability
We sent 80 pairs to ambassadors before launch. Here’s what came back after 200+ trail miles per pair:
- Outsole wear: Average 12% lug-depth loss at 200 miles. v2 was 18% — this is meaningfully better.
- Upper integrity: No mesh tears reported. One TPU overlay separation, addressed in production tooling.
- Midsole compression: Lost ~7% of stack height at 200 miles, well within the industry-typical 10% range.

6. What it’s not
We’re not going to tell you the Trailblade 3 is the right shoe for everyone. It’s not.
- Don’t buy this if you’re primarily a road runner — get a road shoe with no lugs.
- Don’t buy this if you need a max-cushion ultra shoe (look at the Cloudbase HV instead).
- Don’t buy this if you have a history of midfoot stress fractures and you’re transitioning from a higher-drop shoe — the 6mm drop is a meaningful change.
When in doubt, Ask a Pro before you buy. We’d rather help you find the right shoe than process a return.
